Better performance than peer PCs， S600 mini pc evaluation

Recently, we have seen that mini mainframes are becoming more and more popular, or the need for mobile office, or the need to create an ultimate desktop aesthetics, or to reduce the budget to meet the needs of multiple devices. If the space of your home desktop is not sufficient, then the mini mainframes can really reduce the space occupation, and the noise is much smaller than the traditional mainframes.

Is the mini pc enough?

If I put it in the past few years, I would not recommend and choose the mini computer. Because the performance and heat dissipation are too much, it is at best a "player". Now, not to mention full effect 3D games, it can meet the requirements of medium and high difficulty graphics rendering design, video clips, or some games. Therefore, most of the current mini pc configurations are sufficient, even higher than your laptop configuration.

If you have extra memory modules and hard disks in your home, it is recommended to choose the quasi system version. Those who are too lazy to bother can choose the 16G+512G version as I do. If the memory is not enough, it will be more flexible to replace later.

There are two important reasons why I choose the mini computer. First, I can empty the laptop hanging next to the display. Second, there are fewer objects on the desktop. The compact size of 150 * 145 * 40mm seems to be only 1/4 A4 paper. From the desktop perspective, as long as the chassis is large enough, it can fit into the world. For the mini pc, the reasonable design of a piece of land and a piece of gold is very challenging for manufacturers, What's more, we need high configuration and low price.

The top of the fuselage is different from the design in the shop. Instead, it is designed with mirror technology. On the one hand, this design can improve the texture, and on the other hand, it is not afraid of catching, waterproof and splashing materials. While improving the texture, the protection is also guaranteed.

In addition to the top and front of the fuselage, there are heat dissipation openings at the bottom, left and right sides. In actual use, you can hardly hear the fan noise in the small mainframe. The noise is better than that of the huge desktop computer in the office.

The interface of the mini pc is richer than I thought. On the front, there are two USB 3.2 interfaces and a multi-function Type-c interface. On the front, it is equivalent to the traditional computer interface.

On the back of the fuselage are 2 * RJ45 LAN interface, USB 2.0 * 4, and a 3.5mm interface, an HDMI interface, a DP1.4 interface, and a charging interface. Among them, HDMI, DP, and Type-C interfaces support up to 4K 60Hz display output. The display I am using now just meets 4K 60Hz output. 

The demand for three screen simultaneous display is not high for me, but it is a blessing for other small partners or users who need multiple screen simultaneous display. After all, the small size can be directly hung behind the display.

Next is a simple disassembly. After opening the top cover, you can see the 2.5-inch hard disk compartment and the system fan bracket assembly. The flat cable of the hard disk compartment is not designed on the back cover, and it will not be broken even if it is disassembled slightly.

After two screws on the opposite corner of the fan assembly are unscrewed, we can see the internal composition of the entire small pc. On the left side are two 8G memories. These two memories are DDR4 3200MHz, and support up to 64G upgrades. If you have no special needs, the 16G standard configuration has met your work and entertainment needs.

The NV hard disk on the right is inserted with M 2. Solid state. The transmission protocol is Pcle 4.0. If you have those high-speed hard disks, they can be used this time. Although the standard configuration is not a top stream read/write configuration, I think the 3700MB/s read rate is not bad, which meets my life and work needs.

Considering that almost all the pcs and laptops on the market are 16+512, except those on the board, most of them can be upgraded on their own. The same is true for S600-5900HX mini PCs. The standard configuration provides a mid tier option. If you think it is not enough, you can upgrade on your own.

The rest of the radiator is below the motherboard. It is not recommended to disassemble it if you are not very hands-on, so as not to bruise or break the connection point. According to the official rendering, the design of the fuselage is very compact. Most of the hardware you see in the traditional mainframe is concentrated in this small box.

In terms of network, the S600-5900HX mini pc supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Because of the WiFi 6 signal in my home, I do not consider the access to the network cable. In the later software download speed test, it is about 30MB/s, which is faster than the mobile phone in the same situation.

Finally, we come to the core of Ryzen9-5900HX, 8 cores, 16 threads, 3.3GHz dominant frequency, and single core Remax, which can reach up to 4.6GHz and TDP45W. We have seen the existence of this core in many light and thin notebooks.

The old rule is to play games first

For Cyberpunk 2077, many high configuration PCs are difficult to get rid of it. The big scene+NPC transformation requires high machine configuration. When the image quality is set to 1080P low image quality, the frame rate is about 45-50, which is smooth on the whole.

For a period of time, let's talk about it in several aspects:

Performance: For the S600-5900HX mini PC, most people still have low performance requirements. It is enough to play most 3D games and online games.

Heat dissipation performance: when using Cinebench R23 and Master Lu to test, you can obviously feel the performance of the fan. When testing the hard disk reading speed, the temperature also increased to 60+. Of course, this is an instantaneous temperature, which soon dropped. Daily use will not be like the test, running a minute every day, so there is no problem.

In terms of volume: no matter the desktop or under the desk, the space occupation is also very small, and the desktop is cleaner. Who doesn't want it.

Interface richness: I use a wired mouse and keyboard. The last four USB2.0 interfaces have been met, while the first two 3.2 interfaces can read large files. In addition, the multi-function Type-c interface is more playable when connected to an expansion dock.

Price: you will choose a mini pc with the same configuration, or you will choose a laptop at twice the price. I think if you want to use it at home or in the office, the mini computer will have more advantages.
