Palm size VX3-J4125 Mini PC experience

The computer in my ordinary impression is often equipped with a huge chassis. Even if the host computer uses the ITX motherboard, the body still takes up some desktop space. However, in some computer use scenarios, the requirements for hardware performance are not very high, such as the media center in the living room, online classes for children, and daily office document processing for fans. It is unnecessary to choose a computer with such a high configuration, or even a machine box with such a large size. For example, we are familiar with Intel's NUC series, as well as the EGSMTPC mini pc series I brought today.

Today's main character is the VX3-J4125 Mini PC. This is a computer as small as a palm, and the price is very cheap. What can such a mini computer do? Now I'd like to share my starting experience with you.

PC appearance

The outer package adopts a large area of brown, which is very young. The front is the appearance of the host, and the boot will have a skull light effect.

The main unit is grayish black, 0.6L mini size, about the size of a palm, square in appearance, and has a black key on the front, which is very eye-catching and consistent with the color of the package. The front interface has 1 TF C ard, 2 * USB3.0, 1 3.5mmSPK and 1 3.5mmMIC.

There are heat dissipation holes on both sides of the fuselage to ensure that the pc can effectively dissipate heat during operation.

There are more interfaces on the back of the fuselage, including power interface, two USB2.0 interfaces, one Type-C interface, one 2.5G wired network interface, and two HDMI 1.4 interfaces.

In terms of accessories, there are power adapters, instructions, standard VESA expansion boards and some screws.

I didn't mean to roast about the NUC, but the power adapter of the VX3-J4125 Mini PC is really very small, in sharp contrast to the NUC, which is about one-third of the size of the NUC power supply.

The attached VESA expansion board is very useful. With it, the pc can be fixed on the VESA standard hole on the back of the monitor. In this way, it becomes an all-in-one computer, further saving desktop space.

Inside the fuselage

After seeing the outside, let's take apart the pc to have a further look. Through the product description, we can learn that the VX3-J4125 Mini PC uses the Intel 10 generation Celeron J4125 processor, 8G memory and 256G memory. Give away the four fixing screws on the back, and you can open the mini pc to see the interior.

Open the interior of the machine body, and you can see that the layout of the internal accessories is very neat and reasonable. The two-sided motherboard, memory and hard disk are on the outside, and the CPU is on the other side.

An 8GB DDR4 3200MHz notebook memory module is pre installed in the factory. Because the maximum memory frequency supported by the host is 2933MHz, the actual operating frequency will be 2933MHz after the 3200MHz memory module is installed.

Single M 2 interface, supports NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD. The original machine comes with a 256G SSD, and the system is also inside. A metal chip is pressed on it to help heat dissipation. I plan to directly replace it with a 1T NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD in the next step.

Under the SSD, you can see the network card, which supports WiFi5 and Bluetooth 4.0.

A 2.5-inch SATA hard disk is reserved on the top, and you can choose to use mechanical hard disk or solid state disk to expand storage space.

So what the whole VX3-J4125 Mini PC can expand is the DDR4 notebook memory module, M 2 interface NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD and a 2.5 inch hard disk bit. On the whole, it can meet the needs of daily use.

Computer experience

So what can a computer the size of a palm do? Press the striking power button to turn on the machine.

The VX3-J4125 Mini PC uses Intel's 10 generation Celeron J4125 processor, with 4 cores and 4 threads. It is built with Intel Jasper Lake architecture and 10nm process. The base frequency is 2.0GHz. It supports the highest Remax frequency of 2.7GHz. The TDP is only 10W. It is a low-power processor that is very suitable for such mini pcs.

The online god has tested the performance of the J4125. The single core performance is about the same as that of the fourth generation i3 or the third generation i5, and the multi-core performance is comparable to that of the sixth generation i5. It seems that I am still using the fourth generation i5 laptop, which indicates that it must be OK in daily life.

The main purpose of this mini pc is to ensure heat dissipation. Fortunately, the power consumption of the CPU itself is not high, and there is enough heat dissipation space on both sides. Because it is a fanless mini PC, there is no noise at all, and the body shell is kept at about 40 ℃.

The performance of the J4125 must be a little weak at present, and it will certainly not be selected for playing games, but it is enough for daily simple office work, online classes, video conferences, and home multimedia centers. You can also play some light games, which is no problem. It can also be used as a mini gaming pc without playing 3A games.

When I try to open some software and web pages, the CPU usage rate is low. However, only 8G of memory is not enough. When I open 10 web pages with Edge browser, the memory usage is high.

Open Photoshop and simply edit photos. You can see that the CPU and memory usage are already very high. However, simple photo editing can still be completed, and complex rendering cannot be performed.

The use of Lightroom is no good. Usually, I use the 11th generation i5 processor to import and export photos, which also requires 100% CPU and more than 6GB of memory. Therefore, if you have more image processing needs, you are not recommended to choose VX3. It is recommended to choose a higher A1mini computer or A2 small PC.

In terms of display performance, Intel UHD Graphics core display, 24EU, is built in. The Graphics performance is relatively average. Don't worry about playing games. Parents may feel more relieved to use such a computer to teach children online. However, I am quite satisfied that it supports 2-screen 4K output. You should know that both film and television resources and TV, monitors and projectors have bought the 4K era, and the price of 4K monitors is not expensive. Therefore, since it is positioning home audio and multimedia office, supporting 4K output can bring a very good use experience. Playing 4K movies with it will not lead to the situation of being stuck, so it is completely feasible to put it in the living room as a home multimedia center.

This VX3-J4125 Mini PC has a small body and can be placed in various environments. Moreover, its expansion performance is quite good and the price is also very cheap. It is very suitable for home media center, children's online classes and even daily office use. Especially after expanding memory and hard disk storage, it has no problem running most daily software. It supports 2-screen 4K output, and also brings more usage scenarios. It is a mini PC with high appearance and practicability.
