My requirements for computers can be summarized as follows: on the premise of availability, the size should be as small as possible, the familiar Windows system should be supported, and the memory and hard disk should be replaced. In addition to Apple's Mac mini, there are many choices for mini computers on the market. International brands include Intel's NUC, and EGLOBAL, which has been gaining more attention recently.

Recently, I started a VX3-J4125 mini computer of EGSMTPC. After a period of use, I found that its experience was far beyond my expectations. Now I would like to share with you the experience of using the VX3-J4125 mini computer.

About Volumes

Intel and AMD each have processors suitable for mobile platforms. In addition to being used on laptops, they are also very suitable for building such ultra small mini computers. My VX3-J4125 mini computer uses Intel Celeron J4125 processor, 4 cores and 4 threads, with a reference frequency of 2.2GHz and a dynamic acceleration frequency of 2.9GHz.

The size of VX3-J4125 mini computer is 168mm × 118mm × 38mm, which is less than 0.6L in volume. I thought the Mac mini was very small, but the VX3-J4125 is much smaller and can be controlled by one hand.

Because the size is too small, the VX3-J4125 mini computer will be almost overwhelmed by other large ornaments when it is placed on the desktop. The VX3-J4125 mini computer will have no sense of existence if there are too many things on the desktop.

About I/O interfaces

Because of the size limitation, it is difficult to let go of the interface of the notebook. The VX3-J4125 minicomputer is small in size, but it can fly a little in thickness, so there is more room for the interface. The front panel of the VX3-J4125 mini computer is plugged with TF card, two USB3.0 connectors, 3.5mm audio interface and power key.

The interface on the back of the fuselage includes 1 gigabit network interface, 2 USB2.0 interfaces, 1 Type-C interface, 2 HDMI interfaces and power interface. A small computer can support two displays, and it is still very good to have a dual display.

About scalability

The Mac mini with M1 chip almost blocks the possibility of upgrading hardware by yourself. It is very difficult to replace the memory and hard disk that users most care about. It requires professional tools and strong hands-on ability to upgrade it. The scalability of the VX3-J4125 minicomputer has taken a very open and inclusive attitude. The simple summary is that it is easy to disassemble, replace and upgrade.

Remove the four screws on the back of the fuselage to open its back cover. Here's a reminder: Don't open the back cover too much to prevent the flat cable connecting the hard disk compartment on the cover from being disconnected. SER4 is equipped with one Yingruida SODIMM memory as standard, DDR4 2933MHz. The hard disk uses a 256GB NV1 solid state drive. Because I usually use more software, I immediately replaced a 1TB hard disk.

Remove M 2 In the future, you can see the wireless network card under the hard disk, which supports WiFi and Bluetooth. Before gigabit routers and broadband were popularized, such specifications were enough.

If a hard disk is not enough, the VX3-J4125 mini computer also provides a SATA hard disk bit on the cover plate, which supports the installation of 2.5 inch hard disks. When I use computers, I usually use solid state drives as system disks, which can improve the running speed of software. In addition, I also choose to install a large capacity mechanical hard disk as a warehouse disk to save important files.

About Performance

In addition to the aforementioned volume and scalability, the performance of the host should be a very important aspect for users. If it is not enough to talk about the host's sex without using the scenario, I think it is playing rascal. What you do needs to be matched with what kind of tools. A high degree of matching can improve work efficiency and enhance the pleasant feeling of entertainment.

Some people may be concerned about the game performance of the VX3-J4125 mini computer. Now the processor performance of the mini computer is very powerful, and the processor performance may no longer be the main bottleneck in the game. The main drag is the graphics card. In particular, the Celeron J4125, a processor with integrated graphics card, is not allowed to play mainstream 3A games.

The core display performance of Celeron J4125 is more than enough for office work, web browsing and 4K high-definition video viewing. Although the current 3A game blockbuster VX3 is a little powerless, in fact, you can't play games with it. The key is what game you choose.

About heat dissipation

Compared with the narrow space of the notebook, VX3 can play more freely in terms of performance and heat dissipation.

A large number of ventilation holes are set at the bottom and side of the VX3, which is conducive to timely heat dissipation. Although the power consumption is completely released, its thermal performance is commendable. The body shell will not even feel warm. When winter comes, those who plan to use it as a hand warmer may be disappointed.

If you don't usually play games, the computer is only used for office and movie watching. It is unnecessary to install a heavy computer. It is too eyesore on the desktop and takes up too much space under the table. Like the VX3-J4125 minicomputer, which is only 0.6L in size, it is very suitable for people like me who don't play games very much. The minicomputer is not even as big as a router on the desktop, so it can be easily accessed. It is simply too convenient to use.
