Mini computer evaluation: intel core i7 processor+16GB memory

After Xiaomi introduced the mini computer equipped with i5 processor, the brand EGSMTPC also brought F8 mini PC with the same positioning. The performance configuration seems to be little different, but EGSMTPC brings more choices this time. In addition to the quasi system configuration without memory and hard disk, the low configuration version of i5 has also been added.

So in this article, I will mainly talk about the actual performance of the F8 mini PC with the i7-11,370H processor built-in. Maybe your next computer may not need a desktop computer.

When I opened the packing box and saw various EGSMTPC accessories, I believe someone here would roast that the mini host is so small, why should it be equipped with such a large volume of external power supply? In fact, you don't have to worry about it. EGSMTPC has noticed the need for small power supplies, and will replace the whole system with smaller charging heads next month (see the upper right corner). Then you won't see the large power adapter.

In terms of volume, the body of the F8 mini PC is much smaller than that of the A series. The actual size is about 18cm * 18cm * 5.1cm. When it is placed with our commonly used mobile phones, you can see that the size of the pc is not much larger than that of the mobile phone. Of course, it should be noted here that the advantage of the mini computer is not to carry around, but to simplify your computer desktop. It does not need to be assembled and is more convenient to use.

Detailed product information can be seen at the bottom of the body, as well as the way to access BIOS and boot menu. In addition, two screw holes are designed at the bottom, which are mainly used to connect the fixed bracket. For example, you can directly fix the mini pc at the back of the display, so that the display can be used as an all-in-one computer.

Then talk about heat dissipation. I have heard some people roast that the mini host is subject to volume, and heat dissipation is generally not good, and it is easy to crash if you use it for a long time. In fact, EGSMTPC has done a lot of work in terms of heat dissipation. First of all, in terms of the surrounding body frame, it uses a metal body. Then, on the upper and lower sides of the pc, there are heat dissipation fans. The copper tubes for heat dissipation can be clearly seen at the top of the body. I have been using it for several days without shutting it down for 24 hours, and there is no overheating of the equipment.

After disassembling the bottom of the fuselage, you can see a 2.5 inch SATA hard disk bit. Users can expand the capacity of the hard disk when using it.

In terms of expansion, two USB2.0 interfaces and a power switch are designed on the front of the pc.

The back is designed with a LAN network interface (2.5Gbps bandwidth rate), two USB3.0 interfaces, four USB2.0 interfaces, two HDMI interfaces (4K 60 frames), Type-C interfaces, and a DC power interface. The F8 mini PC can be connected to three monitors at the same time, which should be sufficient for most people.

Power on and performance test:

In fact, it is very simple to use. Plug in the power supply, connect a HDMI cable to a computer, TV or other display device, and then connect the mouse button to use it directly. For the first time, you need to make some simple settings, and then you can enter the system desktop of Win11.

Then I tested the hardware, using the Intel i7-11370H processor, with 16GB DDR4 3200MHz dual channel memory, 512GB SSD, and built-in Intel WiFi6 AX200 network card. It also supports Bluetooth 5.2.

This processor uses a 14nm process and has 4 cores and 8 threads. Then I used CPU-Z to perform a simple test. The single core score is 623.3, and the multi-core score is 4373.6.

Then, PCMark 10 was used for testing, and 4609 points were obtained in the office performance test. From the overall score, office work, engineering design, audio and video editing, rendering, and games that don't eat too much configuration were relatively smooth. Of course, objectively speaking, in terms of performance, the game performance of Intel i7-11370H processor should be inferior to that of AMD6800 or 6900. The main advantage of i7-11370H processor is that Intel has better compatibility and is more suitable for office, AI, computing, etc. If you value games, you can choose MV200 or F5.

As mentioned earlier, the F8 mini PC is not a mini console suitable for playing large games, but here is a simple test for you. In fact, the built-in Xe core display is not bad. As long as the resolution and image quality are lowered, the game can basically drive. I first tested this Dust 4 racing game, which can basically maintain a 60 frame rate under the default image quality.

This Cyberpunk 2077 should be a relatively large 3A game. I set 720P picture quality, and the frame rate can be basically maintained at about 30 frames.
